From my own travel experiences, I have found how important language is in establishing and expressing identity, and making connections with other people. Language is a powerful tool, and as an ESOL teacher candidate I can help speakers of other languages understand and use English to meet their needs.

I have really found a niche in the ESOL program at UMBC. Over the course of my three semesters here I have been pleased to discover that ESOL is a field that can enable me to work with students of any age, put me in contact with many people from diverse cultures and language backgrounds, and employ me all over the world.
