| Dr.
Nelson began his career in TESOL in the mid 1960s as a
Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia. Since then he has taught
ESL to elementary and secondary school, university and
adult English language learners. He has been a teacher
trainer, program administrator and consultant in more
that 10 countries on 4 continents. Recently he served
as the ESOL Parent Involvement Specialist for Prince George's
County Public Schools, in Maryland. Dr. Nelson came to
UMBC as an adjunct instructor in 1988. He joined the Department
of Education as a full-time clinical Assistant Professor
in 2004 when he became the Co-Director of the MA TESOL
Program. |
