Dr. Shin teaches courses in theory and practice of second and foreign language instruction, including methods in teaching reading and writing to ESOL students, bilingualism, and linguistics. A productive scholar, Dr. Shin has published widely on bilingual and heritage language education, second language writing, TESOL teacher development, and academic literacy. She has been teaching in the UMBC Education Department since 1999 and has been Co-Director of the M.A. TESOL Program since 2003.
