K-8 Mathematics Instructional Leadership
  • For experienced elementary and middle school teachers who want to increase their understanding of mathematical content and become leaders in mathematics instruction
  • MAE degree program focus on math content, teacher leadership and research
  • Content courses include number systems, algebra, geometry, statistics, and trigonometry
  • Content courses are appropriate for Elementary/Middle school teachers
  • Content courses also include mathematics pedagogy with a focus on inquiry-based pedagogy
Core Education Courses along with the following
K-8 Mathematics Instructional Leadership Courses (18 semester hours or 6 courses total)
1) MAED 521 Mathematical Reasoning
2) MAED 531 Number, Number Systems, and Operations 
3) MAED 502 Geometry and Spatial Reasoning 
4) MAED 503 Algebraic Reasoning
5) MAED 504 Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability
6) MAED 505 Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry 
Note: Each of the above courses is 3 credit hours. 
Secondary Mathematics
  • For experienced middle and high school teachers who want to deepen their understanding of mathematical content
  • MAE degree program focus on math content, teacher leadership and research
  • Content courses include algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, calculus and discrete mathematics
  • Content courses are appropriate for teachers
  • Content courses also include mathematics pedagogy with a focus on inquiry-based pedagogy
Core Education Courses along with the following
Secondary Mathematics Courses (18 semester hours or 6 courses total)
1) MAED 551 Inquiry I: Patterns, Functions, and Algebra
2) MAED 552 Inquiry II: Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability
3) MAED 553 Inquiry III: Geometry, Spatial Reasoning, and Proof
4) MAED 505 Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry
5) MAED 506 Concepts and Applications of Calculus 
6) MAED 556 Discrete Mathematics and Problem Solving
   OR
   MAED 501 Rational Number Operations and Problem Solving 
Note: Each of the above courses is 3 credit hours.
Elementary/Middle Mathematics
