Conversation Partner

CPThis program is available to any ELC student enrolled in the Intensive English or Advanced English Courses. By participating in this program, international students can make new friends and learn more about American culture and college life.  Students are partnered with UMBC students, staff or friends of UMBC to engage in comfortable, informal conversation once a week.

Conversation Partner Volunteers

The English Language Center (ELC) is also looking for interested individuals who would like to volunteer as conversation partners. By becoming a conversation partner, you will not only learn about other cultures and traditions, but you'll also have a unique opportunity to share your own stories and experiences with students who have great interest in American culture and society. Join in the excitement – and take a trip around the world.

Volunteers usually meet with students on-campus once a week for approximately one hour.

To volunteer as a conversation partner, complete the application provided below and return it to the ELC at 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250.
