UMBC may offer conditional admission to international students who are well-qualified academically, but who do not take the TOEFL exam or who have TOEFL scores below the standard level for regular admission (80 iBT).
Start at the English Language Institute (ELI): No TOEFL score is needed when you apply. Apply directly to the ELI, improve your English, then apply for conditional admission to a UMBC undergraduate (no TOEFL needed!) or graduate program.
Note: Admission to a UMBC degree program is not guaranteed. Graduate programs have additional application requirements, including the TOEFL.
