Professional Interests

My primary research focus has been on the removal of inorganic contaminants from the aqueous phase by activated carbons. Over the last several years I have investigated the efficacy of impregnated carbons for the removal of anionic contaminants such as As(III), As(V), and ClO4-. A recent project I have worked on focuses on the removal of radionuclides from wastewater. My membrane research has focused on industrial or DOE related wastes. Two particularly interesting projects have been the development of a full-scale membrane treatment system for a West Virginia aluminum manufacturer and the investigation of a rotary membrane system for DOE wasters and for wastes high in oil content.
