Overall GPA = 3.0 on the 4.0 point system. International students whose universities do not provide marks on this system should either rank in the top 20% of their class or graduate in a least the first division. U. S. students (students who are graduates of accredited U.S. universities) whose overall GPA is >2.5 but <3.0 may be accepted in a provisional status if their GPA on the technical and mathematics courses is >2.5, and they exhibit a serious aptitude towards scholarship.

GRE (sum of Quantitative + Analytical) > 1200. The GRE is mandatory for international students and can be waived only in exceptional circumstances. The GRE is optional but highly recommended for U.S. students.

International students whose universities do not give marks on this system should either rank in the top 10% of their class or graduate in the high first division with distinction. U.S. students whose overall GPA is >3.0 but < 3.3 may be accepted in a provisional status under special circumstances.

GRE (sum of Quantitative + Analytical) > 1350. The GRE is mandattory for international students and can be waived only in exceptional circumstances. The GRE is optional but highly recommended for U.S. students.

TOEFL > 600 (250 for Computer-based TOEFL). The TOEFL is mandatory for international students. TOEFL is not required for U. S. students. SPECIAL ADVANCED STUDENTS. The minimum requirement for admission as a non-degree seeking special advanced student is GPA=3.0. Students whose overall GPA is <3.0 but >2.5 may be admitted in special cases.

The student1s application and supporting credentials will be carefully considered by a selection committee who will consider not only the above criteria but also the student1s performance in technical projects, especially in research. The committee also considers the recommendations from faculty or professional peers. For those seeking to pursue the PhD degree, particular emphasis will be given to prior research experience.

For students already holding the MS degree, the above criteria will be applied primarily to their graduate school performance.
