RESEARCH FACILITIES: The
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has recently completed
renovation of over 2250 square feet of lab
space. Labs are equipped with fume
hoods, analytical grade water, and chemical resistant countertops.
Analytical instruments include an Agilent 6890 GC with micro ECD
and 5973N MS detectors, and an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer.
An ICP-MS and a ion chromatograph are planned for purchase in the
future. Basic laboratory equipment includes analytical balances,
meters (pH, specific ion
probe, DO,
conductivity, turbidity,
COD), shaking tables, bottle rollers, centrifuge, refrigerators,
vacuum pumps, drying ovens, furnaces, UV-VIS spectrophotometer,
microscopes, sonicators, and titrators. Computing resources in
CEE include an SGI Origin 300 server with one node and two processors, and
a four-node Beowulf computer under development.
