Short Biographical Sketch
Manish Verma completed his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India in 1997 and was awarded the University Gold Medal for achieving 1st position in the graduating class. Immediately after, he joined Farmtrac, a farm-equipment manufacturer, as an Engineer-Trainee. He joined the direct Ph.D. program at UMBC in Fall 1998 as a full-time student to work with Dr. Bill Wood in the Intelligent Design Lab. His research work involved providing much-needed computer support to designers at the initial product-design stages. At UMBC, he co-founded the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Students Association and was actively involved with a number of on-campus student organizations. He graduated in August 2003 and his dissertation is titled “Toward A Design for Manufacturing Methodology for Conceptual Design: Functional Modeling and Reverse Engineering”. He has submitted his research findings to international journals and has presented his work in a number of conferences. He is currently working at Intel Corporation as a Senior Systems Engineer in the Automated Material Handling Group.
