Mechanical Engineering Educational Objectives
(Expected accomplishments of graduates during the first few years
after graduation)

•    Prepare our graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to practice Mechanical Engineering successfully
•    Prepare graduates to pursue graduate and/or professional education in Mechanical Engineering
•    Prepare graduates with the broad skills needed for career success, including:
-    communication and teamwork,
-    understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
-    ability to continue lifelong learning
-    understanding of contemporary issues and the impact of engineering on society

by the time of graduation)

ABET Outcomes
Our Mechanical Engineering graduates will have:
(a) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering 
(b) An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
(c) An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
(d) An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
(e) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
(f) An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
(g) An ability to communicate effectively
(h) The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context
(i) A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning
(j) A knowledge of contemporary issues
(k) An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
(l) Knowledge of chemistry and calculus-based physics with depth in at least one
(m) The ability to apply advanced mathematics through multivariate calculus and differential equations
(n) Familiarity with statistics and linear algebra
(o) The ability to work professionally in both thermal and mechanical systems areas including the design and realization of such systems.
