Communication and Technology
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English consists of a minimum 39 credits as distributed below. The major offers two tracks: (1) Literature and (2) Communication and Technology. These tracks share a common core of four courses and the same elective requirements. Additional requirements are listed under the separate tracks.
The Communication and Technology option for English majors was developed in response to student and workplace interest in the impact of technology on all aspects of communication, visual and textual. Students who elect the Communication and Technology Track pursue courses in new media, the literature of technology, and language use, and develop their abilities in the critical analysis and production of various forms of print and electronic texts. This track can also be an ideal second major to complement other disciplines, particularly in science, engineering, and information systems. Graduates engage in careers in education, business, law, publishing, public relations, and computer-related fields.
