Dr. Arnold T. Blumberg is an adjunct faculty member who received his BA in English with Departmental Honors at UMBC in 1993. In 1996, he completed an MA in Publications Design at the University of Baltimore, and he completed his doctorate in Communications Design (DCD) at that same institution in 2004.

A passionate collector and pop culture aficionado, Arnold created and teaches a course in comic book literature at UMBC. He has received two UMBC Alumni Service Awards for his work with the English Alumni Society, for which he edited and designed the biannual newsletter, Turning Pages, for seven years. Arnold is Curator of Geppi’s Entertainment Museum at Camden Station in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. His first book was a comprehensive guide to collectibles associated with the long-running British science fiction television series, Doctor Who. Howe’s Transcendental Toybox, co-authored with David J. Howe, was published in November 2000 (www.tardis.tv; rev. ed. November 2003) and followed by two supplementary update volumes. Arnold has also co-authored a book on determining the condition of comic books, The Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide (January 2003; rev. ed. September 2006) as well as a historical reference guide to Big Little Books titled The Big Big Little Book Book, both at Gemstone Publishing. His latest book is Pop Culture with Character: A Look Inside Geppi’s Entertainment Museum.
