Enrolling in a Single Course for Graduate Credit

Taking Courses for Graduate Credit

A student wishing to take one or more of the courses for graduate credit must be admitted and be enrolled in the course. Applicants should seek admission as an advanced special student, someone who is taking one or more courses for graduate credit, but not seeking a certificate or degree. U.S. citizens (only) can be admitted for the certificate after completing one or two courses as an advanced special student.

Application Procedure

Apply for admission as an advanced special student. Application should be made at least TWO MONTHS prior to the start of the classroom portion of the course. The schedule for upcoming courses is at:

Courses with * are available for graduate credit.

Application Packet Materials
Complete the following materials:
  1. Application for admission as a non-degree seeking student. (Downloadable from http://www.umbc.edu/gradschool/admissions)
  2. Unofficial or official transcripts from the undergraduate institutions leading to your bachelor's degree (copied issued to you are fine).
  3. Course enrollment form.
  4. Non-refundable $50 application fee (either use credit card form included on the enrollment form or submit a check payable to UMBC with a mailed application).
