The Commons, Retriever Grill
Find yourself a seat in the Retriever Grill for a free movie! The fresh,
sophisticated and classic masterpiece, Citizen Kane (1941), is probably
the world's most famous and highly-rated film, with its many remarkable
scenes and performances, cinematic and narrative techniques and experimental
innovations (in photography, editing and sound). Its director, star and producer
were all the same genius individual - Orson Welles.

"Help Your Student Succeed--Involvement Paves the Way"
Learn why some students make the most of college, while others miss opportunities
and feel disconnected. As a participant in your student's learning process, this
session will teach you the many things you can do to support learning, development
and growth in your student. Presenters will discuss the many ways you can
support your student's involvement - which is a key ingredient to success in
college. Presented by the Office of Student Life.
"Exploring the Possibilities: Study Abroad"
Your student could spend a summer, semester or academic year studying outside the
United States as part of their UMBC degree program. This makes students more
marketable to employers and allows students the opportunity to study their major
from a different point of view, learn another language and experience a new culture.
This session is presented by International Education Services.
"What Information Legally Give Families About Their Students Academic
Performance/Behavior On Campus?"
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects
the privacy of student education records. Find out specifically what information
UMBC can disclose.

in Maryland's most popular destination. Shuttles will depart UMBC at 2:30, 4 and
6 p.m. Return shuttles depart Inner Harbor at 4:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

The Honors College Experience and Reception
Albin O. Kuhn Library, 7th Floor
Learn about your student's experiences in the Honors College and meet the
faculty, staff and team leaders who make it happen. The Honors College Parents
Association will have shirts available for purchase, and officers will be
elected for the new academic year. This program and reception are for members
of UMBC's Honors College and their families.
