The Drosophila Research Assistant will be responsible for making Drosophila media for two laboratories, including stocking supplies, cooking media, and cleaning up on a weekly basis. He/she will be required to manage orders from multiple users. He/she may also be responsible for maintaining a number of Drosophila cultures, and carrying out genetic experiments. |

Required skills: |

The student research assistant needs to be extremely reliable, organized, and responsible. Basic laboratory skills such as weighing, measuring, pipetting, and managing data are required. Biology research experience preferred. |

Two work study positions are available in the Brewster laboratory in the department of Biological Sciences. These positions pay $ 10/hour and require about 8 hours of commitment per week.
We are seeking work study students to assist with feeding and caring for zebrafish, a type a tropical fish, that we use in our research in developmental neurobiolgy. We house a large colony of zebrafish comprising about 3,000 individuals. Responsibilities include feeding the fish on a daily basis, cleaning tanks, checking and logging water quality, in addition to a variety of other activities pertaining to the function of the fish facility. The feeding takes about an hour and is done on a daily basis at a fixed time, which can be either between 8 and 9 AM or in the afternoon between 3 and 4 PM. The other tasks in the fish facility can be done at flexible times.
