Duties: |
|
The Bookstore hires students to work as part-time cashiers. Cashiers must be able to handle high volumes of cash, checks and credit cards, ring up customer purchases and assist customers on the sales floor. Other duties include keeping the register areas clean, straightening the sales floor, and assisting in other areas of the store when needed. |

Required skills: |
|
Greet customers and make them feel welcomed as they enter and exit the store
Make sure that all customers leave their large purses and book bags in the bag drop
Watch customers as they roam the store to make sure no one is shop lifting
Be knowledgeable about the merchandise and its location in the store in order to locate merchandise if a customer needs assistance or to restock merchandise left at the registers.
Be knowledgeable of services offered by the Bookstore in order to inform customers of such services (Buy Back, Notaries, Rapid Copies, Special Orders, Stamps and Gift Cards)
Be able to find out answers to customer’s questions and know who to contact in each department to do so.
Be knowledgeable of proper use of cash register
Be knowledgeable on how to ring all tender types (Cash, Campus Card, Checks, Credit Cards, Department Charges, Emergency Loans, Gift Cards, Scholarships, Traveler’s Checks etc…)
Be knowledgeable of the stores return policies and procedures
Be knowledgeable about the computer software procedures
Be able to key in stamps, gift cards, computer merchandise and other items that do not scan
Aid in keeping the store clean! This means help picking up trash, straightening shelves, returning unwanted merchandise to its correct place, and keeping the register area neat and tidy.

Duties: |
|
The Bookstore hires students to work as receiving clerks. These employees receive incoming merchandise and verify order accuracy and condition, identifying discrepancies and taking corrective action when necessary. When receiving shipments, all documents need to be processed and all information needs to be accurately entered into the store's inventory control system.
