Loans

Loans are awarded after your eligibility for grants, scholarships, Federal Work-Study (FWS) and any other awarded aid is considered. Your financial aid package may include loans that are need based and/or non-need based financial aid.

Loans must be accepted before they can be considered as payment toward your bill. Loans are accepted by completing a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling. Your MPN is good for ten (10) years - this means that you do not have to apply for a loan each year as long as you received a loan in the previous school year.

Once the MPN and Entrance Counseling have been completed loan(s) will be processed for the maximum amount you are eligible to receive based upon your grade level. Loans for the current and subsequent semesters will disburse automatically, unless you cancel your loan(s) for that specific school year. You may decrease or cancel your loan(s) by completing a Loan Decrease/Cancel Request Form - found on our website by selecting Forms.

Once you have received a Federal Direct Stafford or Federal Perkins Loan the loan information will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). NSLDS is a federally managed site that allows you to view your loan history. You can view the total amount borrowed for all of your federal loans, your outstanding balances and the status of each of your loans. It is important to note that the data in this system is updated regularly and is accessible to guaranty agencies, lenders, and institutions determined to be authorized users.
