Exit Counseling

The exit counseling session is intended to help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower preparing to enter repayment. This counseling session may provide helpful tips and information to help you manage your loans and prepare for repayment. The requirement to complete exit counseling is posted to your account once the university recognizes an upcoming graduation date, you drop below half-time enrollment or you withdraw from the university.

Please note that you must complete the entire session once you begin. If you exit the counseling before completing the session and return later, you will need to start over from the beginning.

Follow these instructions to complete the Exit Counseling requirement:

  1. Visit Federal Student Aid Exit Counseling.
  2. Log in using your FSA ID.
  3. Under Select Your Schools, select “UMBC” and then click Add School.
  4. Complete the Exit Counseling session.
