Study Abroad

UMBC's Study Abroad Office, located on the second floor of the Administration Building, is available to assist students in their pursuit of specific study abroad programs. Please contact our Study Abroad Office for the initial planning of your international experience.

UMBC students, who wish to study abroad for the summer, fall or spring semesters may be eligible to use awarded financial aid and/or scholarships for their selected course of study. Students are required to submit specific documentation 45 days before the expected departure date to ensure the timely processing of aid. Study abroad packets detailing required documentation must be completed and submitted to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Students are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment with a financial aid counselor to review the required documentation.

The Office of Academic and Pre-Professional Advising, located in the Academic Services Building plays a vital role in the study abroad experience. In addition to meeting with a financial aid counselor, students must speak with an academic advisor to obtain documentation necessary to indicate that the study abroad courses are approved for transfer to UMBC.
