Facilities Management oversees completion of a wide range of campus improvements. Here is a short list of some of the active projects.
Renovations to the West Hill Apartment
Work has begun on the renovation of the West Hill Apartment complex, the last of the three 70's era apartment complexes to be fully refurbished in the last five years. The project will make improvements to building systems, interior finishes, exterior envelope, and outdoor common spaces. The phased renovation project will be completed in the Fall of 2016.

Renovation of the Fine Arts Building
The Fine Arts Building is undergoing a partial renovation to improve over 40,000 square feet of space vacated by departments that moved into the Performing Arts and Humanities Building. The project will consolidate a number of Humanities departments that are currently scattered around campus. Additionally, renovations to the aging building systems are required to allow for the spaces to be fully utilized.
Renovation of the Child Care Center
The Child Care Center will reopen in August of 2015 after major improvements to its building systems and exterior envelope.
UMBC Event Center
Design has commenced on the UMBC Arena and Event Center, a 5,000 seat venue to accommodate student life events, like convocation and graduation, as well as athletic competions of our basketball and volleyball teams. The center will also be the home for the university's athletic department offices and programs, providing more space and flexibility in the Retriever Activities Center for additional student life centered activities. The facility will be located adjacent to the UMBC Stadium and Soccer Park and will provide improved pedestrian access and circulation to the stadium complex, while creating new outdoor gathering spaces for pre-function events.
