GES GRADUATE STUDENTS WIN AWARDS
UMBC GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION AWARD:
Amanda Roberts has been chosen for this years Graduate Student Association Outstanding Senator Award. This award is a reflection of her service and dedication to the graduate student community.
FELLOWSHIP AWARDS:
Yvette Williams was recently awarded a Community Forestry and Environmental Research Partnership Pre-Dissertation Fellowship from UC Berkeley. The award carries a stipend of $2,000.
Nohemi Voglozin has been selected as a fellow for the Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (LEAP) of the Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellows Program. The Fellowship award of $19,900 will be allocated as a subgrant to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Funding for the Borlaug LEAP Fellowship is provided by the United States Agency for International Development. Nohemi will use the support to conduct fieldwork for her dissertation in Benin on African rice, Oryza glaberrima. She will be mentored by Dr Laura Lewis of the GES Department at UMBC, and Dr Semon Mande of the Africa Rice Center (WARDA).
