  1. :-) On page 1, under Academic History Record:
We would like to change the layout of the information text (the text with a purple “i” icon in front of it. We would like to have 4 separate “i” information boxes, because the different data in one paragraph is getting confusing. Each bullet below should be a different “i” information box. The text below has been changed for grammar, and new sentences have been added, please copy and paste (without the quotations and menu dashes) from here as if making it from scratch:
    • :-) “List below the official names of all colleges and universities previously attended, beginning with the most recent.”
    • :-) “<strong>Your application will not be considered complete until UMBC has received an official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended.</strong> The transcripts must be sent directly from the Registrar to the UMBC Office of Graduate Admissions.”
    • :-) “Be sure that the name of the graduate program is included in the UMBC address that you provide to each Registrar [for example: UMBC, Graduate School (Chemistry Program), 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250].”
    • :-) “ETS institution codes for American Universities are listed in the GRE Information and Registration Bulletin, in the ETS <a href=”http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/GRE/pdf/gre_0607_tclist.pdf“>Institution Code List</a> document, or in ETS’s <a href=”http://www.ets.org/codelst.html“>Download Library</a> web page.” [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  2. :-) On page 1, under Current mailing address:
Change “Country (if not U.S.):” → “Country:” [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  3. :-) On page 2 of the UMBCG, and page 1 of the UMBCGND and UMBCGCER, under Academic History Record:
Remove the data requirement on fields Which Degree Received, and Date Awarded/Expected (both month and year). [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  4. :-) On page 4 of UMBCG, and page 2 of UMBCGND and UMBCGCER, under Graduate School Residency Form:
“If either of the categories below apply, please check the appropriate box, provide requested information and/or documentation, and go to “Statement of Academic Goals and Research Interests”“
    Change to
“If either of the categories below apply, please check the appropriate box, provide requested information and/or documentation, skip the following residency questions, and continue with the certification statement at the bottom of the page.” [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  5. :-) On page 1, under Biographical Information:
“International students who do not have a U.S. Social Security Number will be assigned a temporary student identification number.”
    Change to
“International students who do not have a U.S. Social Security Number (SSN) will be assigned a temporary student identification number. International students may need to apply for a U.S. Social Security Number, and let the Registrars office know of this official SSN when you receive it. If you reference an official U.S. SSN that was given to you by the Social Security Administration, before you have notified the Registrar’s Office of that SSN, your records will become mixed up.” [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  6. :-) On page 4 of UMBCG, and page 2 of UMBCGND and UMBCGCER, under Graduate School Residency Form:
When filling out residency information, question number 5 asks for some dates. The dates need to be in the same seperated entry format as all other dates. [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  7. :-) On page 4 of UMBCG, and page 2 of UMBCGND and UMBCGCER, under Graduate School Residency Form:
When filling out residency information, question number 7 asks for which years you filled out income tax returns. This field needs to be a text field so that constant updating of the years does not have to be done. [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  8. :-) On page 4 of UMBCG, and page 2 of UMBCGND and UMBCGCER, under Graduate School Residency Form:
In the “i” information box, in the second sentance, change the word “entirity” to its correct spelling of “entirety” [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  9. :-) On ALL pages:
The page number buttons and save state buttons need to be put at the top of each page. [Completed 9/22/2006, updates@collegenet.com]
  10. :-) Add the following circled sections to our forms, and PDF FTP outputs:
This was fixed on the umbcg form only. It needs to be also fixed on: umbcg PDF output, umbcnd forms and PDF output, umbcgcer forms and PDF output.
    1. FIXME UPDATE: waiting for seperate department to put this into effect on the PDF print and FTP outputs
  11. :-) On page 4(umbcg), and page 2 (umbcgnd, umbcgcer), under Graduate School Residency Form:
When filing out residency information, the first two questions need to determine whether the rest of the residency questions are required or not, as a whole.
Ex1: User fills out Yes for Question 1 and No for Question 2. This means that no other questions are required for the residency section.
Ex2: User fills out No for Question 1 and Yes for Question 2. This means the same thing as Ex1. No other questions are required for the residency section.
Ex3: User fills out No for Question 1 and No for Question 2. This means that various questions are required for the residency section (the requirements that I faxed).
    1. :-) UPDATE: This was done correctly on the umbcg and umbcgnd forms, but appears that the logic is not correct on the umbcgcer form. When doing a Yes,No or Yes,Yes combo, the umbcgcer form incorrectly asks for required fields. When doing a No,No combo, it is fine (asks for required fields).

  4. :-) On page 2 at the top (and any other pages it appears on):
“Major: SAS”. Most applicants will not understand this. It should be explained,”Major: SAS (Special Advanced Student) (Non-degree)”. If it is just printing a back-end code held in the database, maybe the pages serverside scripting can translate SAS to the above?
