Diversity at UMBC

UMBC seeks to create a campus community that is rich in intellectual, cultural, and ethnic diversity at all levels. The University is committed to the success of each of its students and seeks to attract well-qualified students through special funding initiatives as well as through the Graduate Meyerhoff Program for students in the biomedical sciences.

UMBC's Graduate School seeks to build on the University's historical commitment to diversity and cultivate a sense of campus community through programs such as PROMISE, Maryland's AGEP program. The Graduate School expects to continue to attract private and public funding to facilitate the success of minority students especially in the sciences and engineering, the humanities and public policy.

The University's emphasis on quality, high achievement, and the integration of research, teaching and learning, and civic engagement is designed to prepare all students for success in graduate and professional education as well as success in the workplace.
