Welcome to UMBC! We are very pleased that you have chosen to pursue your graduate studies here. This orientation website provides much of the information you need to get acclimated to our university community. I encourage you to attend the orientation events offered by the Graduate School and your department since there is so much more that can be learned through personal interactions.

Orientation Information

Much of the information you need is covered during the orientation programs held for new graduate students. If you miss these events, you are responsible for following through on Post Orientation next steps.

Orientation is free.


Orientation programs are offered each August for graduate students entering UMBC in the fall semester. Fall orientation will be held August 13, 2015.

The Office of International Education Services also sponsors a separate orientation specifically for new international students.
