Determination of Residency for Tuition Purposes
If you believe you qualify to be classified as a Maryland resident for in-state tuition purposes, you must complete the Graduate School Residency Form that accompanies the Graduate School application. The determination of Maryland residency is defined by the University of Maryland Board of Regents. You can find more detailed information about how residency is determined at the registrar's Web site.
Applicants who do not fill out the residency form completely may be temporarily classified as non-residents although they currently live in Maryland. Please fill out the residency form in its entirety; the state auditors require that all fields be filled out on the residency form. Contact Vicki Greisman for assistance.
If you are residing temporarily in the United States in student visa status, you do not qualify for Maryland residency. However, international students with graduate assistantships are assessed tuition at in-state rates.
