Making Your Transition to UMBCWelcome to UMBC!
Much of the information you need is covered at the orientation for new graduate students. If you miss the orientation program, you are responsible for taking care of these matters yourself.
Fall 2009 Orientation
Orientation programs are offered each August for incoming graduate students:
- Orientation activities for international students are scheduled for Tuesday, August 18 through Friday, August 21.
- A one-day orientation for all new incoming graduate students will be on Tuesday, August 18.
- Many departments/programs sponsor an orientation for new students, and these will be held prior to the first week of classes, August 24-28.
- An evening orientation for all new graduate students who are unable to attend the August 18 event will be held on Wednesday evening August 26.
- A teaching assistants classroom training will be held on Friday August 28.
- An orientation for all new international students will be held on Monday, August 31 and is sponsored by the Office of International Education Services.
- Throughout the year several workshops (Success Seminars) are offered to enhance academic and professional success.
Spring Semester
Spring 2010 Orientation
Orientation programs are offered each January for incoming graduate students.
- Many departments/programs sponsor an orientation for new students, and these are usually held prior to the first week of classes.
- An evening orientation for all new incoming graduate students will be held on Wed. January 20, 2010 beginning at 4:30 PM.
- Throughout the year several workshops (Success Seminars) are offered to enhance academic and professional success.
