Graduate Program ESOL
Program Description The ESOL Program offers courses for those interested in teaching English as a second or foreign language. Courses are offered on campus in the late afternoon and evenings and are also available online. The program offers a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL) and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL Certificate)

The MA TESOL is a 36-credit (12-course) program with courses in Methods, Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Instructional Systems Development, Testing and Internship. Program options include getting Maryland State ESOL certification and developing a thesis.

The ESOL Certificate is a 12-credit (4-course) program. The two required courses are ESOL Methods and Cross-cultural Communications. Students can choose two elective courses from a selection that includes Grammar, Second Language Acquisition Theory, Testing and Teaching Reading and Writing for ESOL students.
