All presentations will be judged according to the following criteria:

1.      Identification of the hypothesis

2.      Appropriate experimental design or research plan

3.      Ability to answer questions

4.      Clear presentation of data

5.      Interpretation of results and conclusions

6.      Overall impression of presenter and presentation

Judge Instructions

1.      Please keep to the time limits imposed by the session moderators - 15 minutes for oral presentations and 10 minutes for poster presentations.  This time frame should include the presentation and the question/answer session.

2.      During the presentation or immediately following, evaluate the presentation using the provided scoring sheet.  Do not confer with your fellow judges to determine a student’s score – you will have a chance to meet as a group following the session.

3.      After each presentation has been evaluated and given a total score, list the students who received your top 3 scores.

4.      Share your top 3 with the other judges assigned to your session to determine the winner of this session.  If a consensus has not been reached, the student who received the highest aggregate score will be the winner.  There cannot be a tie for first place.

5.      Return to the registration desk to submit your scoring sheets.
