Why UMBC?: I collaborated with the actual PI during my masters and I wanted to keep working on the same questions his laboratory is interested in.

Previous Degrees: M.A. (Univ. Memphis), B.S, B.A. (Univ. Richmond)

Why UMBC?: The biochemistry and structural biology emphasis of the biochemistry faculty at UMBC is second to none. Working in Dr. Elsa Garcin’s lab has enabled me to continue my work at the interface between biology and chemistry and has furthered my knowledge of x-ray crystallography.
Post UMBC Plans: Once I finish my M.S. here, I intend to continue my education with doctoral studies that will allow me to work at the intersection of philosophy and science.
Words I live by: Although I aim to live by no one’s words but my own, I have been greatly influenced by the writing of two philosophers:  Michel Foucault and Richard Rorty.
