Curtis isn’t your typical college athlete – his interests are as well-rounded as the baseballs he hits for the UMBC men’s baseball team. A talent for numbers led Curtis to major in Financial Economics and a need to make sure he could write more than just spreadsheets had him declare a minor in English. The UMBC athletic teams are not just sports-focused – service is as important as winning the division. The UMBC Baseball team also mentors for the League of Dreams, working as role models for inner-city kids and teaching the disabled how to play baseball. Curtis is also the Secretary of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, a student group that helped raise money for a new weight room at the UMBC athletic center (RAC).
