There are a variety of activities that can be used to draw the student into these events by focusing on the human aspects of the story.  What follows is a list of topics which could be done as individual discussion topics or  as a group role playing exercise;

• You are a commoner in England.  How do the political/religious gyrations affect your own religious expression and church experience?  Do you change allegiance with each new monarchy?  How do you feel about Thomas More and faithful Catholics at the time?
• You are Pope Clement VII.  Your predecessors enjoyed religious and political power and prestige.  You have just narrowly escaped the Sacking of Rome with your life.  How do you relate to Charles V?  What will you do about Henry VIII?  Are you willing to lose England to appease Spain?
• You are Catherine of Aragon.  You are faithful to God & Duty as you understand them.  What are you willing to do?  Will you step aside for the sake of England or fight for your position and your daughter’s future?
• You are Charles V.  You have a conflicting allegiance.  On the one hand you must protect your Aunt and her daughter but on the other you must stop the spread of Protestantism and keep England in the Catholic fold.  You cannot have both.  What will you do?  Which will you sacrifice.
• Suppose that you could rewrite history.  What would have happened if Charles V were taken out of the picture?   How would the world be different today?

 John Wesley & Methodism
 Gen. Booth & the Salvation Army
 The African Methodist Episcopal Church
 The Reformed Episcopal Church & The Oxford Movement
 The Continuing Anglican Church Movement
2.  Have the students investigate ecumenical endeavors between Rome & Canterbury;
 Vatican II
 First Papal visit to England, John Paul II
 Advanced students; consider the impact of the recent Vatican document, Dominus Iesus on ecumenical relations.

3.  Have students do a comparison between the theologies of English Protestantism and Continental Protestantism or English Catholicism and Roman Catholicism.  They may also compare Anglican eccesiology with Eastern Orthodoxy.
