Internships at Associations

   An opportunity to hone research, writing and organizational skills, interns assist in scholarly research and analysis, preparation of exhibits, community outreach, and the development of educational programs. While associations promise substantive work for interns, administrative tasks are often required.

The AAM provides the intern with a wide range of professional experience, offering positions in a variety of areas – from programs in advocacy and education, to exhibit development and public relations.

    This non-profit historical society is the largest of its kind in the United States. The AHA provides an internship that is substantive, exposing the intern to any and all functions intrinsic to the dynamic daily schedule of the AHA, from research, to writing for the Perspectives newsletter, to organizing the annual conference, to processing memberships.zz

    Exposing students to the political process, interns at the DNC participate in programs to disseminate information about, and increase participation in, the Democratic Party. Interns assist staff in a variety of tasks to include office support, mailings, and research.

    Located in the Historic Christian Heurich House, this center for the history of the District of Columbia involves interns in identifying, recording and organizing slides and photographs, cataloguing original art, conducting research, fabricating and mounting exhibits, developing public programs, and writing texts.
