Ka-che Yip, Professor (Ph.D. Columbia University)
A specialist in modern Chinese history, Professor Yip teaches courses on
Chinese and East Asian history. Dr. Yip is a UMBC Presidential Research Professor. His distinguished teaching also earned him designation as a UMBC Presidential Teaching
Professor. Dr.Yip is the first UMBC professor to hold both honors. In addition to numerous articles, he is the
author of Religion, Nationalism and Chinese Students: the
Anti-Christian Movement of 1922-1927, and Health and National Reconstruction in
Nationalist China. Professor Yip is interested in the
history of medicine, public health and diseases in China. His current projects
include book manuscripts on the civilian and military medical systems during the
Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), and the history of public health in Hong Kong.
