Recent Accomplishments for UMBC History InternsInformation About History InternshipsBailey Ball worked in the London Metropolitan Archives, providing support to the curatorial staff of the Keats House Museum during a massive renovation of the property. Peter Bunten created transcriptions and finding aids for audio tapes in the Sandy Spring Museum archives. His project will help the museum create new interpretive frameworks for their vast collection of artifacts and photographs related to local history. Amy Ciesielski worked in the Prints and Photographs Division at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. She catalogued several hundred lantern slides and created an annotated bibliography of sources for a book by the Division’s curator on early photography. Akilah Speaks worked at InterAction.org in Washington, D.C. conducting research, writing summary reports, and attending and reporting on committee, house, and senate hearings in Capitol Hill focused on international development. Harold Steinly-Marks organized and catalogued a collection of manuscripts donated to the Jewish Historical Society of Maryland by Gil Sandler, a reporter for The Jewish Times. Christine Powers identified and catalogued photographic collections for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for a project to preserve the history of conservation in Maryland. Carol Van Natta designed a new Junior Ranger guide for young visitors to Hampton National Historic Site. Colleen Walter undertook a massive field study for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, identifying artifacts and photographs that document the history of conservation in Maryland. |
