AT UMBC IS ELIGIBLE FOR
Regular Faculty/Staff of the university employed at 50% or more are eligible for health benefits offered by the State of Maryland’s Department of Budget and Management, along with the State subsidy. For medical benefits, the State pays approximately 80% of the cost of PPO benefits, 83% of the cost of POS benefits, and 85% of the cost of HMOs. Prescription benefits are 80% subsidized by the State, and for dental benefits, the employee and the State each pay 50% of the premiums. Other benefits offered by the State, such as term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and long term care insurance, are not subsidized by the State at all.
STATE HEALTH BENEFITS?
Non-Regular Contractual (Contingent I and Contingent II) employees, as well as PT faculty/staff , are also eligible to enroll for the State’s health benefits. However, these employees must pay the full amount (100%) of the premium cost for all health benefits.
