|POSITION TITLE:||Laboratory Animal Technician (Job #020)|

|DEPARTMENT:||Columbus Center Facilities/Aquaculture Research Center|
|RESPONSIBILITIES:||The incumbent will provide husbandry oversight to a zebrafish facility to ensure that the zebrafish area is neat and clean. The position encompasses four main areas: maintenance of the zebrafish facility, feeding, probe and monitor service, and cleaning. Specific duties include: maintaining maintenance and mortality records; providing oversight of zebrafish quarantine systems; feeding fish from two to six times per day; recording amount of food consumed per tank; monitoring service requires recalibration for dissolved oxygen, ORP, temperature, PH and salinity; servicing probes and needed; cleaning floors, counters, sinks tables, equipment, etc.; removing trash; and performing other duties as assigned.
Position is located at the Columbus Center located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Position will
work 30 hours per week.
|MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:||Education/Experience: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and one year of experience in a laboratory animal facility supporting a research project. Experience with aquatic animal husbandry, specifically fish recirculation systems required. Knowledge and experience in calibration of monitoring equipment such as: PH, ORP, temperature and dissolved oxygen strongly preferred.
Note: Position requires some weekend work.
|SALARY:||Pay Range 8 (starting at $21,704.25 based on a 30 hour work week) based on a University System of Maryland Pay Program.
