|POSITION TITLE:||Associate Director - Transit|
|PERSONNEL STATUS:||Exempt, Full-time, Regular|
|RESPONSIBILITIES:||The incumbent will report to the Executive Director of the Division of Student Affairs and be responsible for providing administrative, budgetary, operational, and programmatic leadership for all functions of UMBC Transit. Specific duties include: managing the facility, fleet, contract services, personnel, and safety programs; establishing and implementing a regular system for staff performance review and development; assessing route efficiency; managing safety and training programs; serving as campus liaison to the MTA and surrounding agencies; supervising an assistant director, operations manager, administrative staff and motor vehicle operators; overseeing the daily operation of seven local bus routes with a fleet size of twelve commercial passenger carriers; and performing other duties as assigned. |MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:||Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelorís degree and at least five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in the transportation field to include supervision of fleet maintenance, driver personnel and budget. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish working relationships with a diverse campus and community. Experience in transportation design and scheduling desired. Experience with modern computerized office systems, computerized GPS enhanced vehicle tracking systems and card reading systems preferred. Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus. Candidate must have a Maryland Commercial Class B Driverís License with Passenger Endorsement or agree to obtain such license during the probationary period of employment (preparation program will be offered through UMBC).
