| RESPONSIBILITIES: | The incumbent will provide general reference service to the campus community (including shared evening and weekend hours). Specific duties include: offering course-integrated and individual library instruction to faculty, staff, and students in the sciences, engineering and mathematics; participating in ongoing outreach to faculty and students regarding library resources and services; creating and maintaining online science related instructional materials and content for the library website; participating in the Library’s information literacy, assessment, and general outreach initiatives; and performing other duties as assigned. |
| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: | Requires an American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master’s of Library Science (MLS) degree. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: demonstrated knowledge of science librarianship and a strong background in the sciences; demonstrated knowledge of, and strong interest in, current trends in library instruction and information literacy as it relates to the sciences and engineering; demonstrated analytical, organizational, interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated knowledge of academic and library applications of Web 2.0 technologies; strong knowledge of print and electronic information resources; evidence of professional initiative and flexibility; and the ability to work independently and in a team-based environment. An undergraduate degree or second master’s degree in the sciences or engineering and reference and instruction experience in an academic setting preferred. Academic library experience with science or engineering emphasis or equivalent corporate experience in science or engineering is highly desirable. |
| SALARY: | Position is a 12-month library faculty appointment at anticipated rank of Librarian I. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Minimum salary $50,000. Comprehensive benefits. The successful candidate will be expected to meet library and university requirements for reappointment, promotion, and permanent status. |
