RESPONSIBILITIES:The incumbent will be responsible for the development, support and maintenance of all library discovery services and tools used to enable access to library resources in all formats. Specific duties include: Assisting with troubleshooting electronic resource access issues, including remote access issues and networking issues; working closely with other departments on the development of web technologies; assisting in the development of mobile technologies; as a member of the Library Information Technology Services unit, assisting with troubleshooting equipment and software for the Digital Media Lab and other technology services in the library; assisting with providing training, documentation, and public assistance for discovery and technology related services; working cooperatively with other library departments, UMBC IT and USMAI consortium members on discovery and access related issues; and performing other duties as assigned. The incumbent will reports to the Information Technology Librarian.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Requires MLS from accredited library school or information science program. Must have demonstrated working experience with discovery and electronic resource support tools (such as, but not limited to EDS, WorldCat Local, EZProxy, Shibboleth, and SFX) and knowledge of web technologies and standards related to effective e-resource access and discovery. Knowledge of emerging web-scale library solutions and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required. Strong service orientation and excellent planning and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. Experience with EBSCO discovery products and web development, including PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and Javascript and experience working with digital media equipment and software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro) strongly desired. Experience with mobile technologies and app creation and knowledge of networking infrastructure and troubleshooting preferred.
SALARY:Position is a 12-month library faculty appointment at anticipated rank of Librarian I. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Minimum salary: $48,000, comprehensive benefits. The successful candidate will be expected to meet library and university requirements for reappointment, promotion, and permanent status.
