RESPONSIBILITIES:The incumbent shall provide administrative support to the Chair of Political Science in duties related to the department’s Political Science Program at Shady Grove and to the Director and Assistant Director of the Global Studies program. Specific duties include: assisting with affiliate and adjunct faculty requests; managing data base and list serves; preparing paper and electronic copies of course listings and course scheduling documents; serving as back-up scheduler; preparing SCEQ packets; processing word orders via AIM electronic tool; processing R25 reservation and classroom requests; coordinating the Maryland Charity campaign for both departments; maintaining inventory of office equipment; maintaining department purchase card; making purchases; planning events; coordinating advising assignments; maintaining the Global Studies department budget and financials; making necessary travel and conference arrangements; performing all follow-up record keeping; updating program website; maintaining the confidentiality of student and personnel records; updating and maintaining syllabus binder; ordering office supplies and equipment; updating conference room binder and room scheduling; reconciling payroll checks; opening and closing the office; supervising student support staff; answering telephone and appropriately routing calls; and performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Requires a High School Diploma/GED and three years providing administrative support. Experience with internet and emails and knowledge of computers a must. Strong written and verbal skills are required. Must be able to provide support to faculty, staff and students in a positive manner. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Quicken desired. Note: Position may require a typing test, skills exercise and background check.
SALARY:Pay Range 9 (starting at $30,305) based on the University of Maryland Pay System.
