RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research, the incumbent will primarily conduct statistical analysis to support strategic planning and decision making. Analysis may include the study of student yield, student progression, grades, space and course demand/utilization, cost of instruction, faculty retention and promotion, alumni giving, and other analyses requested by campus leadership. Specific duties include: performing statistical analyses using computer statistical packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS); managing and maintaining data files; using spreadsheet and graphics software; participating in the design of research studies and questionnaires; writing research reports; communicating effectively with various constituents; handling sensitive information professionally; and performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Requires a Masterís degree (Ph.D. preferred) with course work in research design, methodology and statistics, and at least two years experience in social science research. Must have exceptional skills in applied statistics, including the ability to match and merge files and interpret output; verify, troubleshoot, and check consistency of data; and create meaningful reports. The ability to import/export files between platforms and software and use spreadsheet and word processing packages is essential. Must have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Experience in an institutional research setting or research in higher education issues desired. Experience with multi-level models (e.g. hierarchical linear models/nested models), survival/event history analysis, or simulation, preferred. Experience writing SQL or MDX a plus.
