RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Director of Recording and the Chair of the Music Department, the incumbent will serve as technical coordinator for the Concert Hall and Recital/Rehearsal Room in the new UMBC Performing Arts and Humanities Building opening. Specific duties include: working closely with the Director of Recording, faculty in music technology, and student assistants to manage recording and lighting for all concerts and recitals in the Department of Music along with sound reinforcement and video projection for special events in two performance spaces; insuring that all concerts and events are recorded (audio and video) properly, archived, and uploaded to the department website as needed; managing students in audio and video recording, and lighting during performances; maintaining department performance/event recording archive; editing and mastering audio and video recordings; creating multiple back-ups of final data, and delete raw data; assisting with facilitation of selected multi-track location recording sessions for music ensembles and faculty projects; maintaining classroom computer and audiovisual systems; managing equipment reservation and checkout; and performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree. Expertise in audio and video recording and sound reinforcement required. Must be experienced with ProTools and Final Cut Pro, and in recording and editing classical music. Experience with computer maintenance is a plus. Note: This position requires availability and flexibility outside of a regular 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. work schedule.
SALARY:Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
