RESPONSIBILITIES:The Associate Director of Foundation Relations will work with Advancement and Academic leaders to identify, cultivate, and solicit foundations for grants to support the institutionís key priorities. The incumbent will be responsible for securing external funding from private, nonprofit and corporate foundations for the benefit of UMBC. Specific duties include: maintaining an active portfolio of foundation partnerships; researching and evaluating funding opportunities with regional and national foundations; building strong relationships with academic leaders, program directors and staff; developing a deep knowledge of institutional programs and priorities; coordinating proposal development; writing and submitting proposals; preparing letters of inquiry, reports, budgets and other materials; planning and managing visits by foundation executives and key supporters; and performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelorís degree (Masterís preferred) and at least two years experience in foundation fundraising in higher education or a comparable environment. Must be a committed team player with an understanding of the role that higher education plays in economically and culturally vibrant communities. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to learn complex concepts and effectively translate these concepts into opportunities for a broad range of audiences. The ability to lead interdisciplinary teams, align diverging viewpoints, and handle a large volume of relationships and activities is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proposal writing experience required.
SALARY:Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
