RESPONSIBILITIES:The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Windows and Macintosh based computing infrastructure both on and off campus. This includes all aspects of customer support including but not limited to: format, install, and patch operating system software; install third party software but is not limited to include Anti-virus software, Microsoft Office, SAS, SPSS, Mathematica, Matlab, S-Plus, and Maple; write and maintain technical documentation for both internal and external use; provide direct support to faculty, staff, and students; troubleshoot hardware, software, and printer problems in the Windows Active Directory and Macintosh environment( this includes but is not limited to working with third-party vendors in problem resolution. Hardware includes but is not limited to desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, smart phones, and other external/internal devices); troubleshoot network connectivity problems and take appropriate action to resolve the problem; develop and maintain lab images across both PC and Mac platforms; implement, recommend, and keep good data security regimes; provide direct user support via OITís call tracking system; support all mobile technologies for faculty, staff and students as well as in the labs; train and support campus on new cloud technologies; and performing other duties as assigned. The incumbent may, at times, be expected to provide instruction to other staff members, interface with other members of campus community, and possibly supervise or mentor student staff or other staff members. The incumbent is expected to resolve customer support tickets in a timely manner with appropriate communication and follow through which frequently involves independent judgment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field is required and at least one year of experience within the Windows and Macintosh environments. Must have hands-on experience with hardware such as Dell, HP, and IBM. The ability to diagnose problems and implement solutions quickly required. Excellent organizational, communication, and strong interpersonal skills required. Must have the ability to: work independently with little supervision; set priorities; and handle multiple/concurrent tasks. Preferred: Experience with and knowledge of Active Directory, wireless technologies, both Windows and Macintosh platforms, Dell Optiplex hardware, and HP Printers. Note: This position requires on-call, after hours support and requires a cell phone be worn for emergency contact purposes. The incumbent must also be able to handle the physical challenges of the position; these include extended periods of time working at a computer, lifting, moving, and installing systems, as well as performing hardware and maintenance tasks.
SALARY: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
