Required Training

Sexual Harassment Prevention
All employees are required to complete this online program within 60 days of hire.  You can access this online module from the T&OD webpage or: http://training.newmedialearning.com/psh/umbc/

Procurement Training
Training is required for anyone who will have or supervise a Procurement Card (P-Card).  The sequence of PeopleSoft classes is:  “Introduction to PeopleSoft,” “PeopleSoft Fundamentals,” and then “P-Card Reallocation.”  Register at www.umbc.edu/training.

In addition, before taking the PeopleSoft “P-Card Reallocation” class, you must attend P-Card training with the Procurement Department.  After visiting the training website, please contact the P-Card Program Administrator, Sharon Quinn, at ext. 5-2540.

Performance Management Process (PMP)
PMP Training is required for all supervisors of Regular/Grant Funded staff.  Sessions will be offered on an ongoing basis.  For additional information, contact the Department of Human Resources at 410-455-2337. Register at www.umbc.edu/training.

PS HR Training is required for anyone who will have responsibility for payroll or timekeeping/leave.  The sequence of training is “Position Management,” “Payroll Preparer Training,” and “Time Entry and Leave Approval for Preparers and Approvers.” Please contact the HR Payroll Unit ext. 5-1604 to schedule training.  For forms and procedure manuals, visit the HR Payroll website at www.umbc.edu/hr/payroll.

 

Recommended Training

Introduction to PeopleSoft
Introduction to PeopleSoft is offered on a regular basis and is the prerequisite to all other PeopleSoft Classes.  This program covers an overview of the PeopleSoft system, what additional training you should take depending on your role, and how you can get help and more information.  This program is recommended for everyone, even if you won’t be using PeopleSoft in your job.

For the PeopleSoft Finance and Human Resources systems, the website www.umbc.edu/peoplesoft has information about training available.  Just click on 'Training Courses' on the left side.

For the PeopleSoft Student Administration Training system, the website www.umbc.edu/sa has information about training available.  Click on the ‘End-User Support’ tab at the top.


Internal Control Education Session
All new employees are encouraged to attend this session, as well as existing employees who would benefit from reviewing internal controls such as separation of duties. Register at www.umbc.edu/training.

PMP Training for Non-Supervisors
All non-supervisory employees are encouraged to attend this session. Employees will learn about UMBC's performance management process, as well as ways to participate in PMP conversations.
