All UMBC study abroad students are required to attend a pre-departure orientation in the months before they depart.  During this session, students will get more information on issues of cultural adjustment and culture shock, hear from past participants, learn about health and safety overseas, and much more.  Students will also receive their Study Abroad Registration Packet, which they must submit to the Study Abroad Office prior to their departure.

Students participating in programs departing in the Fall 2008 semester, the 2008-09 academic year and the 2008 summer term have their pre-departure orientation at the following time:

Attendence at the pre-departure orientation session is mandatory, and it is a requirement of your participation in the program.   Your parents are also encouraged to attend.
