Spend a semester or academic year at DeMontfort University in the heart of the English Midlands!  This UMBC tuition exchange gives majors in the Humanities and Social Sciences the opportunity to explore one of England's most multicultural cities while paying UMBC tuition and fees. 

DeMontfort University

DeMontfort University was founded in the late nineteenth century, and has campuses in Leicester and Bedford.  UMBC students study at the Leicster campus, conveniently located in the heart of downtown Leicester.   UMBC students are directly enrolled in regular university classes with British and other international students, and may register for any classes for which they have appropriate academic preparation in the Faculty of Humanities.  Past UMBC participants have been majors in political science, history, English, theatre, and American studies. 

Leicester

Leicester (pronounced 'lester') is one of Britain's most multicultural cities.  Located on the River Soar, its central location makes it an ideal study abroad site.  It is the tenth largest city in the United Kingdom, and has a history that stretches back to the Roman Empire.  Contemporary Leicester has many restaurants, bars and clubs for its student population.  With Leicester's large South Asian population, it boasts some of the best regional Indian food in the country!

Accommodation Program participants are guaranteed on-campus accommodation for their semester or year.  Students live in single rooms with shared kitchen and living facilities with other university students.  All housing costs are paid directly to DeMontfort University.

Admission

Applications for the DeMontfort exchange program are accepted either semester or the full academic year.  Students must have at least a 2.75 GPA and be a declared major in one of the subjects listed in DeMontfort's Faculty of Humanities.  For more information and an application, contact the Study Abroad Office.
