Spend a semester or academic year at the University of Loughborough in the scenic English Midlands!  This UMBC tuition exchange gives Geography and Environmental Studies majors the opportunity to explore one of Great Britain's most scenic regions while paying UMBC tuition and fees.

University of Loughborough

The University of Loughborough was founded in 1915, and is now one of the top ten universities in the United Kingdom.   It is famous throughout Great Britain for its sports facilities, and is the home of training centers for the British Olympic teams.   UMBC students are directly enrolled in the Department of Geography, and take regular university classes with British and other international students.  Exchange students may register for any classes for which they have appropriate academic preparation.   

Loughborough

Loughborough lies in the scenic East Midlands, one of the most beautiful areas of England.   Located between the cities of Leicester and Nottingham, Loughborough's central location makes for an ideal site to explore the Midlands and the rest of the United Kingdom.  London lies a short two-hour train ride to the south. 

Accommodation

Program participants are guaranteed on-campus accommodation for their semester or year.  UMBC participants live in apartment with single rooms with shared kitchen and living facilities with other university students.   All housing costs are paid directly to Loughborough University.

Admission

Applications for the Loughborough exchange program are accepted either semester or the full academic year.  Students must have at least a 2.75 GPA and have at least second-semester sophomore standing at UMBC when they participate.  For more information and an application, contact the Study Abroad Office.
