Shlomo Carmi, Mechanical Engineering, Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Professor of Mechanical Engineering Shlomo Carmi was honored with a lifetime achievement award from the District of Columbia Council of Engineering and Architectural Societies on Feb. 23. The Council recognized Carmi's distinguished, 38-year academic and research career.

Baseball senior Joe Fowler has been named the America East Player of the Week for the week ending March 9, the conference announced Wednesday. Fowler was instrumental in the Retrievers’ wins over Delaware and Navy last week, including tallying the game-winning home run, a two-run shot in the eighth, against Delaware.

Midfielder Terry Kimener Named America East Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Senior midfielder Terry Kimener was named America East Conference men’s lacrosse player of the week for games ending March 9, 2008. Kimener set career highs with five goals and seven points in UMBC’s 11-9 win over Yale on Saturday.

Lynne Schaefer, Administration and Finance, Selected for Daily Record’s Top 100 Women List
Vice President for Administration and Finance Lynne Schaefer was selected for the Daily Record’s Top 100 Women list. The award recognizes successful female professionals from many career paths who give back to their professions and their communities by mentoring others and by personal community involvement. Maryland's Top 100 Women will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on May 12.
